You have probably seen these signs out in front of hospitals and senior care facilities over the last year. Well, we are here to tell you that these signs also belong in front of our schools.

The work that our school-based staff of teachers, counselors, behavior specialists, social workers, administrators and other critical supporting roles do is physically and emotionally demanding in the best of circumstances. In short, it is hard. But, the last 16 months of virtual and hybrid programming have been beyond hard. It is difficult to put into words our gratitude, appreciation, and pride for the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by our amazing team over this time period.

We have borne witness to adults on our team going above and beyond to maintain connections with our young people and to support their learning and growth despite a confluence of pandemic-related obstacles and barriers. From home visits to one-on-one zoom sessions to reshuffling curriculum and lesson plans on the fly, our staff has bent over backwards to meet the needs of our students. And all while navigating the pandemic themselves, often including responsibilities for supporting loved ones at home.

So, to our staff – we wish you a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. We remain hopeful of some return to “normalcy” this Fall. In the meantime, please know that we appreciate you and all that you have done for our young people over the last year and a half.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Chip and Laura
